When we are not writing, conducting or styling wedding ceremonies we are out and about discovering the newest unique, hidden gems to have them. We always have our ears to the ground and came across Skipbridge,  a wonderful country outdoor wedding location just outside Green Hammerton last Autumn.

Finding the right wedding location is a lot like house buying, the search is all about  “Location location location” but it’s when you actually view the house, or our case, visit the location that you realise that it’s just as much about your gut instinct and whether it makes you feel “this is us” as it is location.

When I visited first Skipbridge Country Wedding my first gut feeling for this place was how relaxed and informal it was; I felt it would be the perfect location for couples wanting a more chilled out affair and especially great for couples with young children.

From the minute you walk through the door you are welcomed with open arms, or legs!!- firstly by the two stunning great danes and then the wonderful mother and daughter partnership that run the weddings there, Gill and Bronte.

I instantly knew anyone getting married at Skipbridge would be looked after and that Gill and Bronte are the kind of people we like to work with.

Skipbridge Country Weddings is new for 2014 and it’s easy to see why it’s quickly getting booked up. It’s a delightful green field venue suitable for a marquee,  Papkata , TotallyTipiBoutipi or Yorkshire Yurt situated on on a small holding that houses creatures great and small- the wandering family of peacocks certainly do bring a touch of regality to any wedding!

It has some lovely features; one being the beautiful weeping willow tree whose branches can be tied back with ribbons and used as the centrepiece for your wedding ceremony. Or the quirky hobbit hole and wedding car that can be personalised to you both make great talking points and photo opportunities.

To help you decide whether this is the place for you here’s our at a glance summary:

It’s for you if:

  • you want a more relaxed chilled affair
  • you’re looking for something a bit quirky and fun
  • quite a lot of your wedding guests are children
  • you want the flexibility of a blank canvas outdoor location but with reliable support available if you need it

What kind weddings & ceremonies can you have there?

Personal outdoor ones! Our ceremonies are written, styled and conducted for and about you. You have the freedom and flexibility to say what you want to say and promise to each other, choose the music, poems, lyrics or traditions that are meaningful to you or give them a new take. We are nationally qualified Independent Celebrants which means you can include religious, spiritual content or keep it totally secular, it’s entirely up to you.

But most importantly we tell your own story and  create a ceremony that’s unique and personal to you, whatever your style or choice of location.

Why have we chosen to work with Skipbridge Country Weddings?

  • the friendly relaxed atmosphere
  • the flexibility and freedom it offers
  • their dedication to making your day a personal experience

It’s certainly been getting some interest in the Yorkshire press too!
